WHAT CELLA DOES

One platform to decommission legacy systems

Many organisations spend significant operating budgets keeping old systems alive for one reason: the data inside them. Cella removes that reason. It extracts the data from your legacy applications, holds it in one secure, all-in-one platform you can search and report on, and lets you switch the old systems off for good. The data stays. The cost, risk and complexity go.

Legacy system decommissioning – sometimes called application decommissioning – is the complete retirement of an old application or system, shutting it down and moving its data to a separate platform, such as Cella, where it stays accessible for reporting, audit and compliance. Unlike archiving, the original system is switched off for good.

“Data decommissioning” is a term people often search for, but strictly it is the system that is decommissioned, not the data. With Cell, the legacy system is retired while its data is retained – extracted into a secure, accessible store for reporting, audit and compliance. So you decommission the system and keep the data.

Cella decommissions data from SAP and non-SAP systems, including SAP ECC, Oracle, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Infor, Oracle Fusion, Microsoft and Baan – and in fact any legacy system, both structured and unstructured data. Data from multiple systems and vendors can be held in one platform.

Legacy systems decommissioning can remove up to 80% of a system’s total cost of ownership. Around 15% of IT budgets is spent maintaining legacy systems.

Yes. There is a strong use case for Cella across sectors such as: financial services, pharmaceuticals, energy, manufacturing and government, with retention management, legal hold, GDPR disposal, dual 4-eye approval, encryption, audit logging and granular access control.
